As a motivational speaker that teaches women how to Stress Less and Laugh More, I am a still a recovering perfectionist trying to let go of dirty dishes in the sink, picking up after everyone, and hoping my dust bunnies will magically hop away come Easter. A recent Forbes article really drove women’s choices: 49% of women said they do not have enough free time. Yet even if they could afford it, 45% said they would not hire household help, and women take care of 11 household tasks compared to 2 for men. Click here for entire article. And those 2 tasks were often few and far between home repairs and yard work. They did not include changing the toilet paper roll!
I heard on the radio that in many places in the world women still spend up to 6 hours fetching and carrying water. Today is International Women’s Day 2023 and many of you reading this are blessed with choices. Are you celebrating who you are and where you are going, or are you exhausted “doing one more thing” or chore before you take care of yourself and follow your passions? It’s not easy, but my mantra helps me: “Everything is not perfect, but I am perfect with everything!” Today, make a conscious choice on how you invest your time and energy.
